It’s not like I don’t enjoy sex or I have never had sex but something I sincerely don’t find meaning in it at all. Some sexual interactions might have led to some guilt, but mainly, they have not added anything specific. The pleasure was momentary, with no long-term spiritual benefits.
I have been contemplating NO SEX, ZERO SEX, CELIBATE, and NO LUST life for quite a while. I don't know if sex is sinful, but it is a compelling desire that controls and shapes our life. It defines a lot of people's lives. It becomes the center stage of their existence, which I don't want in any way possible.
Being celibate is not easy, nor is it for everyone. I genuinely feel that it is the best thing for me. I have been celibate for nearly two years and want to continue practicing it for the rest of my life. I find celibacy freeing and non-judgemental, keeping me closer to my existence and higher power. It allows me to live a simple life without desires and be closer to consciousness, or as religious people say, ‘God’ or ‘Allah.’
Celibacy is a virtue that sets us as celibates apart from the rest of society. It helps us live a non-lustful life and get closer to being more grounded. Celibacy shouldn’t be used as a tool to repress sexual desires but as a tool to feel ourselves from sensual desires and become closer to our consciousness. I will go an extent further, sex is a powerful energy, but it adds no value to our spiritual being and path to moksha. It can be a distraction but not an addition.
Then why do religions like Christianity or Islam promote marriage and monogamy? It is actually simple. Celibacy is hard, very hard. Controlling sensual & sexual desires and channeling that energy to connect with Allah is beautiful but brutally hard. So, that is why religions propagate the idea of one marriage, getting into a contract, and stopping living a lustful life.
Sex & Lust are interlinked; either go celibate or go into one marriage contract and use sex as a tool to procreate, sex without procreation is just a waste of energy.
Like Nikola Tesla, I choose to be celibate, channeling my energy into building something purposeful for the people, the planet, and animals. Also, using that same energy to walk on the path to moksha.
